Romana Ahmad – English-I & Law of Torts-I [LLB 111 & LLB 126]

Romana Ahmad studied Law at Bristol University, following which she completed her post graduate Legal Practice training at the College of Law, and her traineeship at Broadway Solicitors in London. She is Dual Qualified, as both a Solicitor of England and Wales, and as an Advocate of the Sindh High Court. She has practiced in both England and Pakistan. She is visiting faculty at SZABUL, TMUC and Ziauddin, and a private tutor in English Language and Literature.

Maham Jamali Law and Society [LLB 113]

Maham Jamali is a practicing lawyer and an active member of the Karachi Bar Council. She has worked with Imkaan and handled several matters pertaining to human rights and citizenship laws before the district courts and quasi-judicial bodies in Karachi.

Ms. Jamali completed her BA-LLB (Hons.) from Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (LUMS). During her time at LUMS, she initiated a pilot project, “Street Law in Lahore” and later owing to its success, Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law took the project under its umbrella, and currently, this project is being taught as a credited course at LUMS. Ms. Jamali has a keen interest in advocating for women and human rights.

Rakshanda ShahFundamental of Economics [LLB 114]

Rakshanda shah is visiting faculty of economics. She has an experience of teaching courses in economics, econometrics and research methods in MBA and BBA program of more than twenty years. She did Mphil course work in Economics from the University of Sind and a gold medalist from University of Karachi for MSc Economics. Prior to joining ZU in 2019 she voluntary served in an NGO for six years. She Voluntarily work in full time capacity as coordinator of Person for Special Needs School where she monitors the smooth working of Principal and staff also she Coordinate an industrial home producing wooden hand made goods to provide work opportunities to unprivileged segment of society. She also coordinates Human Resource development program and involve in planning and managing different courses and lectures for the welfare of the women.

She taught at Textile institute of Pakistan as an assistant professor from 2002 till 2013. She was associated with Iqra university, Baqai university, Alkhair University and Newport university in a visiting faculty status from 1998 till 2002.  She worked as deputy registrar at Newport University from 1996 to 1998 in addition to her teaching assignments. She started her career as portfolio manager and worked as a consultant with investment corporation of Pakistan from 1993 till 1995. Currently she in addition to her visiting faculty assignments she continues her volunteering work.

Hassaan Bin Shaheen – Skills Development (Public Speaking) & Introduction to Logic and Reasoning [LLB 116 & LLB 212]

Hassaan Bin Shaheen is a writer, lawyer, performer and trainer. As a lawyer and consultant, Hassaan did his postgraduate diploma in the UK and trained as a solicitor at the University of Law, Bloomsbury in corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions.  Hassaan has done projects with Standard Chartered Pakistan, The Hashoo Group, developing communication strategies for a major political party, and training at the Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company and Thardeep Microfinance. Hassaan has worked with Liaquat Merchant Associates as a corporate lawyer where he specialized in banking law and corporate strategies. He has also assisted the Director Legal FIA in prosecuting cyber-harassment, financial fraud and white-collar crimes.

Hassaan trained as a comedy writer and performer at iO Chicago, The Nursery Theatre and Hoopla Improv in London. His background in law and comedy has allowed him to develop a deep understanding of the interplay between creative and critical thinking. Hassaan won the Public Speaking Championship in 2015 at the World’s University Debating Championship.

As a creative professional Hassaan is a stand-up comedian, who has performed in multiple cities in Pakistan and has performed in the US and UK comedy circuits. Hassaan also curates and organizes poetry shows, public debates, stand up shows, and engages actively with the student and artistic communities in Karachi. He is also an Acumen fellow.

 

Rafique Ahmed International Constitutional Studies (US) & Constitutional Law-II (US) [LLB 5117 & LLB 222]

Mr. Rafique Ahmed is a Barrister-at-Law from the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. He completed his Bar Professional Training Course and LLM from BPP University London. Previously, he was awarded LLB (Hons) with Professional Experience from Kingston University London with distinction, Kingston Law School Prize and Kingston Gold Award Certificate. Currently, he is enrolled as an Advocate and is a member of Sindh Bar Council and Karachi Bar Association. He has worked with different law chambers in London (United Kingdom), Cape Town (South Africa) and Karachi (Pakistan).

At Ziauddin Faculty of Law, Mr. Ahmed is a visiting faculty member who will be teaching the Constitution of the United States.

Yahya Ghazali – English II & III [LLB 121 & LLB 211]

Mr Yahya Ghazali has been teaching English for the last twenty-six years. With a Master’s degree in English Linguistics from Karachi University, he has taught students both at college and university levels, along with conducting courses such as Academic writing, Spoken English, and SAT, ToEFL and IELTS at places of repute. Having conducted courses for English at Sindh Judicial Academy and for US Ed-link for professionals, he also carries a vast and varied experience of training teachers and other professionals who require linguistic edge in their work.

Rufruf Chaudhary – Principles of Political Science [LLB 123]

‘Barrister Rufruf Chaudhary is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and is a certified Civil/Commercial Mediator. She previously trained in the corporate sector and is a Lecturer at Law in Pakistan. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Mazeltov – Innovation & Justice a think tank spread across 13 countries dedicated to contributing to legal and policy discourse on innovation in the field of social justice. She Co-Chairs multiple research projects and the Innovation & Justice Fellowship that provides training on United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 16, ‘Pease, Justice and Strong Insittuion’. She is the legal counsel for AGAHI and their efforts future related initiatives and has trained Mental Health Workers for hearing in the courts of the United Kingdom at the University of West of England. Ms Chaudhary believes in continuous learning and skills development. She has pursued certification in law and technology, artificial intelligence, migration, policymaking from prestigious institutions such as Harvard, University of Chicago, SOAS and ITU Academy.

Raja Adnan Khan – Constitutional Law-III (Pakistan) & Constitutional Developments in Pakistan [LLB 312 & LLB 412]

Adnan Khan is a Senior Associate having over 6 years of experience at a Karachi based leading law firm, specializing in corporate and commercial matters. He has extensive experience in mergers and other commercial transactions. Adnan also specializes in handling regulatory matters relating to the State Bank of Pakistan, Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan and Competition Commission of Pakistan. He is an active litigator appearing in matters regarding Constitutional Law, Civil Law, Banking Law, Federal Services Law and Financial Crimes.

Adnan is a Barrister of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, certified Civil & Commercial Mediator, and a registered Advocate of the High Court at Sindh.

Zainab Effendi- Haqqi – History of South Asia [LLB 125]

Zainab Effendi-Haqqi is a Senior Associate at ANZ law firm. She completed her LLM in International Corporate Governance and Financial Regulations from University of Warwick, UK in 2009.  She has a vast experience from working at the PTCL legal department to representing a variety of clients in the High Courts all over Pakistan.

Ms Effendi-Haqqi has been teaching law for over a decade. Her forte is Property law and Equity and Trust law with an interest in the History of South Asia. Ms Effendi-Haqqi is also on the list of permanent Arbitrators Panel for the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

Marvi Palijo – Introduction to Psychology [LLB 225]

Marvi Palijo holds multiple degrees; Bachelor of Science in Social Science/Liberal Arts from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi and a Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B. Honors) degree from University of London. Ms. Marvi Palijo has been part of Ziauddin Faculty of Law as a visiting faculty since September 2020. Moreover, she has also worked as an Associate at Ali Khan Law Associates (AKLA), a commercial law firm.

Naima Qamar– Islamic Jurisprudence-II [LLB 224]

Naima Qamar completed her LLB from Sheikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law, Lahore University of Management Sciences. She was previously working as Senior Research Associate at Sindh Legal Advisory Call Centre, an initiative of the Legal Aid Society and Law Department, Government of Sindh. Her interests are human rights, gender and privacy law.

Farah Khan – Criminal Law-I & Criminal Law-II [LLB 314 & LLB 324]

She graduated from Hamdard School of Law in 2014 and started practicing as a criminal lawyer under the mentorship of Mr. Ilyas Khan; She has been practicing for the past 7 years now. She has earned a Master’s Degree in Criminology from the University of Karachi. She has been teaching Criminal Law and Criminal Procedural Law at Hamdard School of law since 2016. She has worked with various organizations on different aspects of criminal law and reforms. During her practice, she has remained on the panel of lawyers who represented convicts who had no representation due to financial restraints and have represented several inmates on death row. She has been part of the research team of the United Nations working on the reforms on the Anti-Narcotics and Anti-Terrorism Laws in Pakistan. She has participated in training sessions held by GIZ as a trainer to the Sindh Police on investigation techniques, the importance of forensic evidence, and the collection of forensic evidence and has authored a training manual for GIZ. She is working with ICRC as a Senior Research Associate to bring legislative reforms in Sindh regarding the protection of healthcare workers and improvements in legislation in this area. She has also co-authored a book on forensic law and practice in Pakistan published as a Medico-legal digest. She is currently serving as the Special Prosecutor for the National Accountability Bureau of Pakistan.

GN. Qureshi – Law of Property [LLB 315]

Mr. Qureshi earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) at Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in 1994 and LLB at Sindh Law College, Hyderabad in 1996.

Mr. Qureshi having over 20 years of experience in the field of Law, is a Senior Partner at M/s. GM Qureshy Law Associates a leading law firm based in Karachi and has currently been rendering his legal expertise to the Land Utilization Deptt. Board of Revenue Govt. of Sindh as Chief Legal Advisor since December, 2010 to date. Visiting faculty on Land Laws & the Constitution of Pakistan at Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law (SZABUL) for 4 years.

He has previously worked as Assistant Attorney General for Pakistan at Attorney General for Pakistan office in Karachi from 2008 till 2010.

After obtaining degree in MBA, he started off his career as a Banker, working for one of Multinational Banks in Karachi until he joined Legal profession in 1998 with M/s. Liaquat Merchant Law Associates, a Corporate Law Firm based in Karachi.

Alexander Lawson – Research Methods [LLB 511]

Alex was born in Lincoln in the United Kingdom to an English Father and Ukrainian mother. He spent his formative years in the jungle of Guyana, in South America.

Alex has been teaching law subjects and supervising research students for nearly 20 years. He has an LLB and LLM from Durham University. He taught various law subjects at Durham, before moving to BPP University, where he created and ran various modules on their LLB, LLM and Graduate Diploma in Law programmes.

In 2018 he moved to Pearson College London and is also currently a Lecturer at the Open University.  Alex also currently works as a quality assurance consultant at the University of Northampton.

Alex is an expert in Constitutional and Administrative Law, European Union Law, Jurisprudence and Public International Law, amongst other subjects. His research interests lie within the fields of international law, human rights and the law of resource use.

Alex was a school governor for three years and spends his free time following pretty much all sport. His favourite sport is cricket, but Leicester City Football Club is the source of most of his joys and desolations.

Fayyaz Aslam – Jurisprudence-II [LLB 321]

For over 25 years, Mr. Fayyaz Aslam has dabbled in various areas such as entrepreneurship, information technology, academia, and law. Holding years of experience as a visiting faculty member at various reputable institutions and universities, he currently practices as an advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

He is passionate about jurisprudence, theology and current affairs. Having been an avid sportsman throughout his life, he also participates actively in various philanthropic and judicial reforms initiatives. A keen linguist, he speaks multiple regional languages of Pakistan and is currently learning new languages.

Barrister Asad Alavi is an Associate at Haider Waheed Partners|Masood Khan Jaferii Zaman, one of the leading law firms in Pakistan offering a full suite of advisory, transactional and dispute resolution services. Mr. Alavi assists with various matters involving customs, real estate, regulatory laws, white collar crime, defamation and intellectual property in the tribunals, District courts and the High Court. Mr. Alavi has prior experience of civil litigation, dealing with contentious matters of property, inheritance, rent and education before joining HWP.

Mr. Alavi has been teaching Administrative law at SZABIST for the past 2 years.

Mr. Alavi was called to the Bar of England and Wales in July 2018. He is a member of the Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. He has successfully undertaken Alternate Dispute Resolution Training and is an Accredited Mediator.
